Helen Pollock Workshop 17 August 2024

A group of 15 members attended a lively demonstration workshop run by Helen Pollock ONZM at the White St clubrooms on 17 August 2024. Helen is the guest artist and selector for this year's annual exhibition "Inferno", held 24 August - 22 September. Helen discussed and demonstrated her paper clay handbuilding techniques, generously sharing her recipe and practical tips. We gained insights into her ceramic journey and philosophy - "Your work reflects who you are and what is happening in your life" and should be "true to your own journey".

Classes - 2025

We maintain a waiting list for tuition. This is reviewed regularly, and those waiting are contacted when places become available. Please email our secretary Crissie Dickie directly if you wish to join the waiting list. The club rooms are used for classes only between 6.00 - 8.30pm Monday to Thursday, and 10am - 12pm Monday and Thursday. Sundays are tutor-only days - this gives our tutors an opportunity to organise the rooms and firings and prepare and replenish glazes for club use. Any time outside these hours is for financial members to come down and make use of the club facilities.

Yet to be named 53rd Annual Exhibition 15 August - 14 September 2025

Our annual exhibition will be held as usual at the Aiganitighe Art Gallery, Timaru. Opening night is the 15th August 2025 We're excited to have Darryl Frost from Nelson/Tasman (many will know Frost and Fire Gallery) as our guest judge and selector this year! Darryl's also going to be giving an artist talk at the Aigantighe on Sunday, August 17th. We'll share more details as we get closer to the date. We've also got some other amazing guest potters joining us: Mary Smith and Jack Black, plus guest painters Diana Peneamene and Jane Powell. A reminder about getting your work in:- Like last year, we need your pieces at the clubrooms a week before opening night. So, the deadline for dropping off your pottery forselection is Thursday, August 7th at 12pm.Don't miss it!- You can enter up to 6 pieces for selection.- If you've been doing pottery for up to 3 years, you can enter as a student and even use the club glazes.- If you've been potting for longer than 3 years, you'll need to enter in the general category. That means using your own glazes (bought orhomemade) and making sure your pieces were created without direct tutor help. We will keep you posted.
